Silicon Valley is world-renowned for its innovation and global influence on how we live our lives. It is also a place striving to achieve diversity in the workplace where both men and women from all over the world can play similar roles in shaping that influence. Each year, the Silicon Valley Business Journal takes an in-depth look at the 100 most influential women in Silicon Valley from the public, private and nonprofit sectors and announces its “Women of Influence Awards.”
We are excited to report that our Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Dr. May Wang has been named to this year’s list.
Dr. Wang serves as a driving force behind ZingBox and has played a key role in the company becoming a recognized leader in IoT security. But her influence on business, technology and on women in particular goes far beyond that.
Dr. Wang has rich history of achievements in Silicon Valley. She graduated from Stanford University with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, and went on to serve as principal architect and head of Asia Pac Research at Cisco’s CTO office. During her 14-year tenure at Cisco, she contributed to developing security algorithms currently used in Cisco network switches and helped lead the Internet of Things innovation. Her expertise in IoT eventually led her to start ZingBox together with the founding team.
Dr. Wang has also served and continues to serve as an investor and advisor to a number of tech companies, leveraging her knowledge and expertise to help young companies grow. She was the president of NACSA, a high-tech professional organization with over 4000 members. Dr. Wang has also been a champion for women in the region, authoring the book “Women Executives in Silicon Valley.”
Although we are not surprised that May is receiving this award, we congratulate her on all her success and are so proud to recognize one of our own as one of the most influential women in Silicon Valley. We are also proud to be a company supporting and encouraging women in high-tech.
